The Legend Is Born
Nürburgring, Germany / 3 June 1934
The new Mercedes-Benz W25, painted in German white and one kilogram over the newly regulated 750 kilogram weight limit, sits in its garage at the Nürburing and awaits almost certain disqualification for the next day’s race.
In a last minute stroke of genius, the iconoclastic manager of the German team—Alfred Neubauer—orders the paint stripped off of the cars, resulting not only in a car that qualifies for the race, but a silver colored icon that will dominate auto racing until the breakout of World War Two.
The Silver Arrows legend is born.
